In this blog post I am going to cover the best shoes if your child has orthotics as well as 5 reasons why.
As a mom of two special needs kids, who are unable to walk and need to wear orthotics for support, I can say hands down that the shoe brand called “Billy” is by far the absolute best shoes for a child who wears orthotics.
It can be extremely challenging to try and put on a regular pair of shoes when your child wears orthotics.
We have tried several different types of shoes over the years and without a shadow of a doubt the easiest shoes to put on over my child's orthotics have been the “Billy” shoes.

It would sometimes take me 5-10 minutes to struggle to put my special needs children's shoes over their orthotics because it was such a tight fit.

We even bought shoes that were a size or two larger, hoping it would help make it easier to put their shoes on over the orthotics.
Unfortunately…..it didn’t work.
The problem is…..if the shoes are too big, then it is more difficult for your child to take steps.
On the contrary…..if the shoes are too small or tight, then once again, it can be too difficult for your special needs child to take steps while wearing them.
Thank the Lord that my son’s physical therapist told me about the shoe company called “Billy”.
She told me that they are excellent shoes for kids who wear orthotics and said it can be a huge time saver to put the shoes on over the orthotics because the shoes simply zip around the foot and toes area…..making it super easy and fast to put the shoes on. 😊👍
On average....it only takes me about 1-2 minutes to put my sons Billy shoes on over the top of his orthotics.
