How to be positive even when you're having a really bad day 😊

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

"Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will."- Zig Ziglar

Some days are just Really hard and there is no getting around it, but in this blog post I want to share a few tips for how we can choose to see the good in any situation instead of getting caught up in how bad things are going.

We all have those days where everything seems to be going wrong. From accidentally oversleeping to not getting a chance to eat breakfast before running out the door.

To seeing lights in your rear view mirror as you are speeding to get to work on time. It is only when the officer asks to see your drivers license and registration that you realize that you were in such a hurry to run out the door that you accidentally forgot your purse back at home.

UGGHH!! 😩

Seriously.......WHY!!!???? 😭

It can be a bit of a challenge to think positively if your day starts off anything like that.

You could be thinking "No way!! I have absolutely NOTHING to be thankful for. I am totally not going to be thinking positive today!!" And you for sure have that choice.

You can choose to decide that the rest of your day is going to be horrible, no matter what.

OR....you can make a decision to not let the bad things that have happened ruin the rest of your day.

If you stop and think about it, it is pretty incredible that we have the power to control our thoughts, which in turn has the ability to determine our emotions. Whether we stay pissed off, negative, angry, frustrated or depressed.

We can choose to dwell on all the things that have gone wrong or are currently going wrong or we can switch our thoughts to things that we are thankful and or grateful for.😁👍

For example, if you think there is nothing to be thankful or grateful for in my little story mentioned above, let me give you an idea of how I believe you can turn any bad situation into a positive one.

When you realize that you accidentally overslept, you can chose to be thankful that you woke up at all. The fact that you are still alive and that you didn't oversleep any longer is something you can be grateful for.

As far as rushing out the door and not even having a chance to eat any breakfast......you could be thankful that it is healthy for your body to experience intermittent fasting every now and again. Intermittent fasting has all kinds of benefits that are great for you.

I bet I know what your thinking....."How in the WORLD can you ever be thankful for getting pulled over by the cops for speeding!? How could you Possibly see even an ounce of good in that!!??"

Well, easy!!

You can be grateful that you have a car to get you from point A to point B. Many people don't have a vehicle and have to rely on taking the bus or the max or finding someone to give them a ride to get to where they need to go each day.

To top off my last illustration of choosing to be thankful instead of staying angry and frustrated from the story mentioned above. When it comes to you realizing that you accidentally forgot your purse at home because you were in such a hurry to rush out the door, you could chose to be thankful and grateful that you have a purse and that it is not lost, but safe back at your home.

You don't have to worry about calling all your credit card companies and calling your bank and explaining that your purse was stolen and to cancel all of your cards. You don't have to deal with some person who stole your purse trying to steal your identity to do who knows what!

Nope!

You don't have to deal with any of that stress because your purse isn't stolen. It is safe and sound at your house. You can also be thankful and grateful that you have a place to call home. 🏠

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts." - Marcus Aurelius

I hope this helps open your mind to some of the creative ways that you can start thinking more positive even in the midst of when everything seems to be going bad.

Next time you have a bad day, I'd like to encourage you to stop in the heat of the moment and think of at least 2 or 3 things that you are thankful for.

Truth be known, things can ALWAYS be worse!!

So it really just boils down to your mindset and deciding to stop focusing on how horrible everything has been and to shift your thoughts to how many things you have to be thankful for.

Yes, I do realize that it sometimes involves a high amount of creativity to find something good in a bad situation or a bad day, but I have faith in you! I know you can figure it out!! 😊👍

The next time you are having one of those horribly bad days, just remember:

"You can not have a positive life and a negative mind." - Joyce Meyer

In conclusion, you can always find something to be thankful for and grateful for even during the days where everything seems to be going horrible. Just remember to switch your thoughts to what you have to be thankful for instead of harboring on all the negative stuff.

I would love to hear from you! 😊
